With the
basic sling, I throw over 300 feet, 100 yards. That is a long way to throw a large stone. My arm could never throw a stone that far. When I throw a stone like that, I imagine a phalanx of Roman soldiers approaching. Can you imagine having a hundred slingers throwing stones at an approaching enemy? It would be so demoralizing. I mean, you can't help but think of those who have gone before and used the sling in combat. Anyway, throwing that far requires the underhanded throwing technique that I describe later.
